Collegian Care Package Build!

April 14, 2010, the Dayton Alumnae gathered to hold elections and build care packages for the Dayton Area AOII collegians! Officers elected for 2010-2012 are:
  • President: Kathy Shakro Carder
  • VP/Treasurer: Terry Herring Bevis
  • VP/Membership: Roberta McLean & Sharon Tucker
  • VP/Programs: Marie O'Donnell & Sue Knierim
  • VP/Secretary: Sharon Tucker

After a brief business meeting and elections, it was time for fun! There are 64 AOII's from the Dayton Area who are in 14 different collegiate chapters. A box was sent to someone in each of those chapters and they should be receiving them sometime in the coming week. There are a variety of goodies included in each box: snack cracker packs, cookies, individual fruit packages, fruit & nut snacks, tea packets and drink powder packs, pens, pencils, note pads, pony-tail bands, key chains, etc. We stuffed those boxes as best we could and hope the packages are well-received and enjoyed by the girls knowing the Dayton Alumnae chapter is thinking of them!

We had a great time putting the boxes together and appreciate all the donated items from our members, especially those who couldn't come, but made sure they got items to someone who was.

2010 Easter Basket Build

Another great year...once again, my dear sisters you have amazed me with your generosity as we created 65 kid and 6 adult Easter Baskets to donate to Harvest Youth Ministries (http://www.harverstyouth.org/). That's right, 71 baskets in total. Every single kid's basket had much candy and a stuffed animal along with pencils, and other small items. They looked beautiful as you can see from the photos. Then we ate some wonderful Graeter's Ice Cream then loaded the baskets up and delivered!
Time to start looking for more baskets for next year!
WAY TO GO DAYTON AOII!

We will also get copies of the Bylaw Amendment proposal and the Slate of Officers.

Join us for the fun and ice cream...I hope to post some pictures later.

March Happenings

Much going on this month. Monday, March 1st, was International Panhellenic Badge Day. I hope you all wore your badge on Monday to show your support for the Greek system and to demonstrate to the non-Greeks we know our service continues throughout our lifetimes.

Today, March 4 - We held our Phantom Char-i-Tea at 2:00 and I hope to receive many RSVPs (checks of course) to show your attendance and MARCH 4th into Service as AOII goes Blue! Red Rose tea bags were provided for all to enjoy with each other wherever we were today at 2pm.

Next Wednesday, March 10th, we will meet at The Reserve in Centerville to slate the officers for our upcoming election and review our Bylaws. Please make every effort to attend. The meeting starts at 6:30. This will be a pivotal election as we need to examine how we will move forward as a chapter over the next two years.

On Saturday, March 27th, perhaps one of our most enjoyable meetings...The Easter Basket Build! We will meet at Graeter's Ice Cream in Oakwood at 1PM to build Easter Baskets for Harvest Youth Ministries. Bring lots of candy, small toys, books, etc to spread our love to the children who might not otherwise receive an Easter basket.

Finally Catching Up

OK, so it's been a while since I've posted and I need to catch up with our activities, so just some brief summaries:

We had a great Mother/Daughter tea in December. Due to our timing restriction, we had several collegians who were unable to attend as they were just traveling home for the break.

January was our officers meeting and we did some brainstorming on the upcoming officer elections and how to recruit some new/young members.

In February, we brought in the Chinese New Year with dinner at the China Cottage and our annual candle exchange.
